The National Transport and Safety Authority has stated that no private companies are licensed to conduct vehicle inspections as the July 1 rollout nears. Director General Nashon Kondiwa said enforcement details for private vehicles will be shared later.
The National Transport and Safety Authority clarified on June 26 that all vehicle inspections will take place only at its designated centres. It dismissed reports of private firms being authorised for the service.
Director General Nashon Kondiwa said enforcement of mandatory inspections for private motor vehicles will be communicated in due course. Owners of vehicles over four years old must book appointments via the eCitizen platform.
Inspections for school transport and commercial vehicles will also continue at NTSA centres. The authority warned motorists against using brokers claiming to offer fast-track services.
