The Perfil Awards 2025 ceremony, held at Editorial Perfil in Buenos Aires, brought together cultural and journalistic figures to commemorate contributions to the common good and freedom of expression. Jorge Fontevecchia, the group's founder, opened the event with a speech on the Berlin Wall as a symbol of censorship, comparing it to modern information barriers and emphasizing journalism's role in anticipating transcendent values.
Among the honorees, Jacobo Timerman posthumously received the Exemplary Journalistic Career Award. His son Javier Timerman accepted it, recalling: "He always considered himself a professional journalist." Timerman, founder of La Opinión in 1971, resisted Argentina's 1976 dictatorship, was kidnapped in 1977 and exiled, inspiring with his defense of human rights.
Rita Segato won the National Critical Thinking Award for her analysis of gender violence and coloniality. The anthropologist, exiled in 1975, has influenced Latin American debates, such as the Sepur Zarco case in Guatemala.
Other winners included Esteban Bullrich for his contribution to the common good despite his 2021 ALS diagnosis; Pablo Grillo for national press freedom, injured in a March 2025 protest; Ana Arzoumanian for international critical thinking; ArtHaus for contemporary artistic project; Pier Paolo Pasolini posthumously for international peace; CONICET for scientific outreach in a submarine expedition with 18 million views; Martin Baron for international press freedom; and Faustino Oro for sports and human development.
The fifteenth edition reinforced the importance of solidarity and democracy, with messages of hope for 2026.
