National Police are investigating the deaths of a 13-year-old girl and a 20-year-old youth, whose bodies were found without signs of violence at a construction site in Logroño. The inquiry suggests they voluntarily jumped from the top of the building after entering the site in a van. The girl's family had reported her missing hours earlier.
In the early hours of January 10, 2026, the lifeless bodies of a 13-year-old girl from Villamediana de Iregua and a 20-year-old Romanian youth from Logroño were discovered next to a construction site at 27 Marqués de Larios Street. According to the Government Delegation in La Rioja, they showed no signs of violence, and the initial investigation suggests both voluntarily jumped from the top of the building structure.
Security cameras from the construction company recorded how, around 11:30 p.m. the previous day, the van driven by the youth crashed into the site's protective fence, allowing them to enter. Once inside, they climbed the stairs and leaped into the void. The impact triggered alarms, alerting the site's managers and National Police, who found the bodies upon arrival.
Hours earlier, the girl's family had filed a missing person report. Sources indicate they were in a relationship disapproved by the minor's parents due to the age difference, as reported by the newspaper La Rioja.
The bodies were taken to the Institute of Legal Medicine in La Rioja for autopsies. Emergency services attended the scene, including the Psychosocial Emergency Response Team to support the families. Police continue to examine the footage and other evidence to confirm the exact circumstances.
