Mayor Ricardo Nunes and Governor Tarcísio de Freitas inaugurated Praça do Triunfo on Wednesday in downtown São Paulo.
The event took place a year and a half after a wall was built on the site, on Rua dos Protestantes in Santa Ifigênia. The square replaces an area that concentrated the flow of crack users.
Nunes stated that Cracolândia will not return because the scheme will not return to govern São Paulo. He mentioned the commitment made in the first month of Tarcísio’s administration at Palácio dos Bandeirantes.
Tarcísio noted that coordinated actions across government levels were decisive. More than one hundred properties linked to the PCC were sealed during the revitalization operations.
