Veteran Radio Citizen presenter Tina Ogal has joined the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party and declared interest in the Embakasi East parliamentary seat ahead of the 2027 General Elections. The event occurred on April 28, presided over by ODM Secretary General Catherine Omanyo. Ogal brings over 20 years of media experience to the political contest.
Tina Ogal, a veteran Royal Media Services (RMS) broadcaster at Radio Citizen, officially joined ODM on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. She was among several new aspirants welcomed into the party during an event led by Secretary General Catherine Omanyo.
At the ceremony, Ogal declared her intention to contest the Embakasi East parliamentary seat, held by Babu Owino. "Veteran radio presenter Tina Ogal joined the party and expressed interest in the Embakasi East Parliamentary seat," ODM announced.
Ogal has over 20 years of journalism experience, having joined RMS in 2004. Known for her distinctive authoritative voice and command of Swahili, she was promoted to Acting Head of Radio after Jeridah Andayi departed.
Others joining include Bayamin Mahat, eyeing the Waberi Ward seat in Garissa County, and Bobby Onunga, targeting Embakasi Ward in Nairobi. Omanyo stated, "We are committed to opening a democratic space that will encourage as many people as possible to join the party."
This recruitment forms part of ODM's strategy to expand its political base and attract fresh candidates nationwide ahead of the 2027 polls.
