Seoul shares ended higher Tuesday on a rebound in technology stocks. The KOSPI closed up 0.73 percent at 6,856.83.
The benchmark KOSPI reversed from an early 0.56 percent decline to finish 49.9 points higher. It had dropped as low as 6,448.86 during the session after a 9 percent plunge the previous day.
Samsung Electronics rose 3.34 percent to 263,000 won while SK hynix gained 3.69 percent to 1,913,000 won. Hyundai Motor fell 4.39 percent and Hanwha Aerospace dropped 6.84 percent.
Investors monitored renewed US-Iran tensions over the Strait of Hormuz and awaited US inflation data. The Korean won strengthened 10.4 won to 1,493 won per dollar.
