A South Sudanese businessman identified as Athorbey Gaddafi Guet went missing in Nairobi after being allegedly taken by armed men early on Wednesday.
Athorbey Gaddafi Guet, widely known as Gaddafi, was last in contact with his wife at 10:19am on Monday, June 8. She later learned that a police report filed at Kilimani Police Station described an abduction near Yaya Centre. According to the report, masked men in a white pickup stopped the rideshare vehicle carrying Guet after he left Lucky 8 Casino around 3am on Wednesday, June 10. His phone was last traced near a hospital on Kiambu Road. Amnesty International Kenya called for immediate disclosure of his whereabouts and warned against any enforced disappearance. Activist Boniface Mwangi noted that Guet had expressed safety concerns in April over business disputes. Police and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations are looking into the case.
