Steelers veteran may open training camp on PUP list

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Sebastian Joseph-Day could start training camp on the physically unable to perform list after sustaining an injury during spring workouts.

Post-Gazette beat writer Ray Fittipaldo said Friday that Joseph-Day was nicked up late in the spring. The team reports to camp early next week.

Fittipaldo noted on 93.7 The Fan that the veteran could join offensive tackle Broderick Jones on the PUP list. He described the issue as possibly minor but lacking any update since the end of spring sessions.

The Steelers signed Joseph-Day to a two-year deal this offseason to add depth along a young defensive line. Fittipaldo said that if healthy, Joseph-Day would be part of a six or seven-man rotation and could play multiple positions.

It remains unclear whether the injury will keep Joseph-Day sidelined when camp opens.
