Suicide blast at wedding kills 5, injures 10 in northwest Pakistan

At least five people were killed and 10 others injured in a suicide blast at a wedding ceremony in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Friday, police said. The attack targeted a house where guests were enjoying a musical performance.

A suicide bomber detonated an explosives-laden jacket at a house in the Qureshi Mor area of Dera Ismail Khan district, where people were attending a wedding ceremony and enjoying a musical performance, District Police Officer Sajjad Ahmad Sahibzada told Xinhua.

The official feared that the death toll might rise as some of the injured were in critical condition. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

The incident underscores ongoing security challenges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which has long been plagued by militant activities. Police have launched an investigation to identify the attacker and motives.
