Surahammars IF faces significant challenges ahead of the Hockeyettan season. The club will lack ice in its home arena until late September.
Surahammars IF has encountered major difficulties with its preparations for the new season. Problems with cooling units in XLNT Akustik Arena mean the ice will not be ready until at least 21 September.
Sportchef Jörgen Mähler told VLT that the club will not get the pre-season it desires. Several training matches have already been affected, including one against IFK Arboga that was moved and others against Tyresö Hanviken and Arlanda Wings that were canceled.
The club is searching for alternative ice times in the area. Mähler described the situation as frustrating, noting difficulties in finding available slots during the summer vacation period and the added logistics of commuting with equipment.
Options as far away as Katrineholm have been considered, though Mähler called such plans unrealistic.
