France’s men’s table tennis team defeated Brazil 3-0 on Friday and will face China in the semifinals of the world championships in London on Saturday.
Powered by Flavien Coton, the French team dominated Brazil in the quarterfinals on Friday. The 18-year-old Coton defeated world No. 5 Hugo Calderano in three sets (12-10, 11-8, 11-9).
Félix Lebrun and Alexis Lebrun then won their matches against Guilherme Teodoro and Leonardo Iizuka. Ranked world No. 2, France will now meet defending champions and No. 1 China.
Two years ago in Busan the French lost the final to China. The team aims for a historic qualification on Saturday at 20:30.
