A new fan craze called Tarps Off has taken hold at Major League Baseball games this season. It began at Busch Stadium in St. Louis with a group of college players and quickly expanded to other ballparks. The St. Louis Cardinals have embraced the energetic shirtless displays in their right-field stands.
The movement started on a Friday night during a series between the Cardinals and the Kansas City Royals. Members of the Stephen F. Austin club baseball team removed their shirts in the right-field seats and waved them like rally towels. The extra energy helped fuel a walk-off win for the Cardinals that evening. Manager Oli Marmol bought out the section the next day and later invited the group into the clubhouse after another victory.
