A 28-year-old man accused in a Tochigi robbery-murder case was taken into custody at Tokyo's Haneda Airport in the early hours of Sunday, shortly before his planned flight to Seoul.
Japanese police said the man was arrested as he attempted to flee to South Korea.
The case involves a robbery and murder in Kaminokawa, Tochigi, where the suspect is alleged to have instructed others.
His detention at the airport prevented any further escape.
