President Trump, who had bonded with FIFA president Gianni Infantino ahead of the event, made his presence felt after the match. He took the field amid boos from the crowd and lingered awkwardly among the Chelsea players during the trophy ceremony. Captain Reece James eventually hoisted the gleaming prize, a Tiffany and Co.-designed trophy inspired by NASA's Voyager space probes.
In a post-final interview with broadcaster DAZN, Trump revealed what he described as a permanent gift from FIFA. "I said, 'When are you going to pick up the trophy?'"
