Police have confiscated almost 6,500 fake vinyl records in a major operation in Luton. The haul, valued at over £250,000, is believed to be one of the largest seizures of its kind in the UK.
The City of London Police’s Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit carried out the raid on April 22 at an unnamed premises in the Bedfordshire town. Officers took 6,498 records thought to have a retail value of £259,520. They worked alongside the British Phonographic Industry’s Content Protection Unit during the operation.
