Police have returned an iPhone 17 Pro Max belonging to the wife of Persija Jakarta coach Mauricio Souza, who was a victim in a case involving the fencing of hundreds of stolen phones in Jakarta.
AKP Andre JR Simamora, head of the criminal investigation unit at Polsek Metro Kebayoran Baru, confirmed that the coach's wife was one of the victims. He said the phone has been returned to its owner after being seized during a raid at an apartment in East Bekasi.
Police arrested three suspects with the initials MR, MAA, and J. They seized 225 phones, consisting of 183 iPhones and 42 Android devices. The suspects bought the stolen phones for between Rp800,000 and Rp1.3 million each and resold them for profits of up to Rp4 million.
The case began with reports of missing phones in the Blok M area in April 2026. The perpetrators face charges under Article 592 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 476, which carries a maximum sentence of six years in prison.
