Woman suspected of graffiti with cow's blood on Uppsala mosque

A woman in her mid-30s is suspected of graffitiing cow's blood on the Uppsala mosque's facade overnight into Sunday, including a swastika and the words 'häck väck lingonsäck'. Police arrested her shortly afterward while she possessed a knife and a jar of cow's blood. She has been released but remains suspected of aggravated damage, hate crime, and knife law violation.

Overnight into Sunday, a woman around 35 years old graffitied the Uppsala mosque's exterior using cow's blood to draw a swastika and write 'häck väck lingonsäck', police said.

Yaser Abo Jeisheh, managing director of the Uppsala mosque, described the incident as horrific. 'We are afraid that this hate rhetoric is developing', he told SVT Nyheter.

The woman was arrested soon after. She was carrying a knife and a jar of cow's blood. She was released following questioning, but the suspicions persist.

Police spokesperson Magnus Janson Klarin stated that the investigation against her looks very strong. She is suspected of aggravated criminal damage, hate crime, and violation of the knife law. Police assess no political or religious motive behind the act.
