A total of 1,546 candidates out of more than 2,239 enrolled appeared for the civil services preliminary examination in Puducherry on Sunday, resulting in a turnout of 69.05%.
The Union Public Service Commission conducted the examination across seven sub-centres in the city. Sessions took place in the forenoon from 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. and in the afternoon from 2.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.
The district administration arranged special buses to transport candidates to the venues. These included Thiruvalluvar Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Tagore Government Arts and Science College, Vallalar Government Girls HSS, Annai Sivagami Government Girls HSS, Fatima HSS, Kanchi Mamunivar Centre for Postgraduate Studies and Research Institute, and Bharathidasan Government College for Women.
The same buses returned candidates to the city after the examination ended at 4.30 p.m.
