Former NFL star Aaron Donald recently spoke with new Pittsburgh Steelers safety Jaquan Brisker about the mindset and habits needed for long-term success in the league.
Brisker joined the Steelers this offseason on a one-year deal after playing 52 games for the Chicago Bears, including all 17 in 2025. During their conversation, Donald emphasized resetting each year.
"I can’t live off what I did in the past. Now I gotta do all that shit all over again this year. Starting from scratch all over again," Donald said. He also stressed studying film constantly and treating football as a 24-hour commitment.
Donald further advised Brisker to prioritize physical health. "Keep grinding, but make sure you’re taking care of your body, though. That’s the most important thing; it’s a long season, a lot of football," he said.
Brisker has a history of concussions that caused him to miss most of the 2024 season. The advice comes as he prepares for multiple roles in Pittsburgh’s defensive backfield.
