Anvisa bans manufacturing of Henlau Química cosmetics

Brazil's Anvisa banned on Wednesday (29) the manufacturing, distribution, sale, and promotion of all cosmetics from Henlau Química, including brands Sunlau, Wurth, and Needs. The action followed an inspection revealing unauthorized formulas and regulatory breaches. The agency ordered product recalls.

Brazil's National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) issued the ban on April 29, based on an inspection from April 14 to 17. The audit found breaches in good manufacturing practices, including formulas differing from those authorized.

The prohibition covers all batches of products such as Repelente Gel Baby Amorável, Sunlau FPS 30, Protetor Solar FPS 30 Wurth, Sunlau Spray repelente Deet, Needs Repelente de Insetos com Icaridina Spray Kids, and Needs Repelente de Insetos com Icaridina Gel Kids. Anvisa advises consumers to stop using the items and contact the customer service line on the packaging.

Henlau Química stated in a note that it took all necessary steps to rectify the situation and tracked the cited batches. The company says three items — Sunlau FPS 30 (batch 130552), Repelente de Insetos com Deet (batch 130450), and Protetor Solar FPS 30 Wurth (batch 130552) — remain at the factory, undistributed. Repelente Gel Baby Amorável (batch 128460) had limited distribution, and Henlau initiated a recall before Anvisa's resolution.

The inspection also identified issues in cleaning products, prompting Anvisa to suspend their production. Henlau claims these products meet sanitary standards, with no recall ordered.
