AT&T will increase prices by up to $20 per month on its retired unlimited wireless plans starting in April 2026. The change affects accounts with plans activated before July 24, 2025, but includes an extra 20GB of hotspot data. This follows the recent launch of new 2.0 unlimited plans.
AT&T has announced price hikes for customers on its legacy unlimited wireless plans, set to take effect in April 2026. According to a support page, accounts with a single line will see a $10 increase, while those with two or more lines face a cap of $20 for the entire account. To offset the change, affected plans will receive an additional 20GB of hotspot data each month. The carrier stated on the page, “This change helps us continue providing reliable network service, quality products, and great customer experiences.” An AT&T spokesperson told CNET, “We recognize that any price increase matters to our customers and their budgets. This increase reflects the real cost of continuing to deliver the speed, reliability, and support our customers expect every day.” The increases apply only to wireless plans activated prior to July 24, 2025, including older plans like AT&T Value Plus VL, Unlimited Starter SL, Unlimited Extra EL, and Unlimited Premium PL from the second half of 2025. For example, the Unlimited Premium PL plan will rise to $96 per month for a single line (from $86) and $240 for four lines (from $204). This comes after AT&T launched its new 2.0 plans last week, including Value 2.0 at $50 for one line ($120 for four), Extra 2.0 at $70 ($160), and Premium 2.0 at $90 ($220). The Premium 2.0 offers unlimited high-speed data and 100GB hotspot, making it more expensive than its predecessor but with enhanced features. Customers on current plans are not automatically switched and face a potential $50 activation fee to upgrade. AT&T noted its new plans are competitively priced compared to rivals like Verizon and T-Mobile, which recently adjusted their offerings.
