Professional boxer Hannah Rapp died after a motorist allegedly struck her with his vehicle while she was riding a bicycle in Texas.
Deputies from the Brazos County Sheriff's Office responded around 10 a.m. on Saturday to the 23000 block of FM 159 near Navasota. They found 26-year-old Rapp lying in the road and rushed her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Investigators determined that 31-year-old Charles Eric Medina drove past Rapp and another cyclist before stopping, shifting into reverse and hitting her. Medina faces a manslaughter charge and is held in the Brazos County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
Rapp had challenged for the World Boxing Council's featherweight title last month, losing to Tiara Brown by unanimous decision. WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman said, "The loss of Hannah Rapp leaves us heartbroken."
