Three masked attackers arrived on a motorcycle at the residence of Sammelal Kashyap, a local Congress leader, in Karhi village under Birra police station limits around 12:30 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026. They barged into the house in Janjgir-Champa district and opened fire, killing one son and injuring another, according to Janjgir-Champa Additional Superintendent of Police Umesh Kashyap.
Mr. Kashyap told journalists that the assailants remain unidentified. Police have launched a probe into the incident and are searching for the suspects.
