The Federal Oral Court of Corrientes restarted the trial over Loan Peña's disappearance on Wednesday, June 17, after resolving the situation of a defendant who did not initially appear.
The court suspended the hearing scheduled for Thursday and ordered a recess until June 24. The decision followed Federico Rossi Colombo, the psychologist accused in the parallel case, connecting via Zoom and explaining his initial absence due to lack of resources.
The judges nullified the first day's proceedings to prevent future nullity claims. The reading of charges was repeated with all defendants present.
Prosecutors Carlos Schaefer and Tamara Pourcel had requested his detention after declaring him in rebellion. The unified process involves 17 defendants and more than 180 witnesses.
Loan’s parents, José Peña and María Noguera, are set to testify next week when witness statements resume.
