Cristopher Sánchez breaks Phillies scoreless innings record

Cristopher Sánchez set a new Philadelphia Phillies franchise record with seven scoreless innings in a 3-0 win over the San Diego Padres on Wednesday.

Sánchez extended his scoreless streak to 44 2/3 innings, surpassing Hall of Famer Grover Alexander’s 41-inning mark from 1911. The left-hander has not allowed a run since the first inning of his April 30 start against the Giants and posted a perfect May with five starts, 39 innings, 45 strikeouts, three walks and zero runs allowed. The performance lowered his season ERA to 1.47 over 12 starts and 79 1/3 innings.
