Djokovic admits he may have erred advising Sinner

Novak Djokovic said he might have made a mistake by sharing tactical advice with Jannik Sinner after defeating him at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships. The remark came during an appearance at the 2026 Fanatics Fest. Sinner has since dominated their head-to-head meetings.

Djokovic recalled the 2023 encounter during a July 19 appearance at the Fanatics Fest. “After beating Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon 2023, I gave him all the spiel of everything that I noticed on the court – his weaknesses, his strengths, things he has to work on,” he said. “And then the next three years, he beats me at Wimbledon every freaking year. So, maybe I made a mistake, I don’t know.”

Sinner has won seven of their nine meetings since that semifinal. The Italian defeated Djokovic 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in the 2026 Wimbledon semifinals on July 10.

Djokovic, 39, has struggled with form and a right shoulder injury this season. He reached the Australian Open final in January but has recorded only nine wins since then. He expressed interest in returning to Wimbledon at least once more.
