Mahmoud Esmat, Egypt's Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, met with UK Ambassador Mark Bryson-Richardson to discuss expanding cooperation in renewable energy and attracting British investment.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral ties, leveraging British expertise in peer-to-peer energy systems, and using renewables to supply remote areas. Esmat highlighted Egypt's National Energy Strategy, which aims to reach 45 percent renewable energy by 2028 through local manufacturing, grid expansion, and battery storage.
Esmat praised the longstanding Egypt-UK partnership and noted government measures to improve the investment climate for private sector involvement in solar and wind projects. He stressed the role of British companies in technology transfer and knowledge exchange.
Ambassador Bryson-Richardson affirmed the UK's commitment to encouraging more British investors in Egypt's energy sector and praised Egyptian expertise in renewables.
