On November 9, 2025, Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi convened a high-level meeting to enhance cooperation between their ministries, with the goal of drawing more foreign investment into Egypt’s petroleum sector and enabling Egyptian companies to expand globally via the Egypt Exploration and Production (E&P) Gateway.

Abdelatty emphasized the need to bolster energy partnerships with regional countries to cement Egypt’s position as a hub for energy trade and transit. He highlighted the strategic value of Egypt’s advanced infrastructure and the importance of sharing expertise with energy-producing nations in exploration, production, and modern extraction technologies. According to Abdelatty, these steps are essential for attracting foreign investment and making substantial progress in the sector.

Badawi updated on ongoing regional projects linking gas fields to Egyptian facilities, which boost energy security across the region. He commended successful natural gas partnership models, noting that Egypt’s LNG plants and extensive transport networks make the country a key platform for regional economic integration.

Badawi also stressed promoting the international expertise of Egyptian petroleum companies. Coordinating with the Foreign Ministry, he said, would open new markets and showcase their proven track record in delivering major projects abroad. Egyptian firms already have a strong history of success in multiple international markets.

The meeting reaffirmed both ministries’ dedication to using the E&P Gateway as a central platform to attract investment and demonstrate Egypt’s strengths in exploration, production, and energy infrastructure, thereby reinforcing the country’s standing in regional and global energy markets.
