A fan analyzing the 2023 Grand Theft Auto V source code leak has identified an early version of the main character from Rockstar Games' canceled spy title Agent. The discovery, shared on GTA Forums, points to a model in a folder codenamed Jimmy, dating back to 2009. This provides fresh insight into the long-mysterious project.
User XanaBax on GTA Forums, via BenTech on Twitter, examined character models from the GTA V source code leaked in 2023. Three models were confirmed as GTA V assets, but a fourth—a man in fatigues—did not match. Further investigation revealed it resides in a folder named Jimmy, believed to be Agent's codename, under a Player hierarchy, and includes 'NorthRig' in the filename, linking it to Rockstar North studio. The model dates to 2009 and resembles a remix of Niko Bellic from Grand Theft Auto IV, aligning with leaked screenshots from over a decade ago. It has never appeared in GTA V or GTA Online. The find revives interest in Agent, first teased at E3 2007 as a PS3 exclusive from Sony and Rockstar. Sam Houser announced it in 2009 at Sony's E3, calling it the game Rockstar always wanted to make, with a potential 2010 launch. Leaks surfaced in 2011 from a former Rockstar North artist, but progress stalled. Resources shifted to GTA V around that time, as a former developer noted in 2023, leading to quiet cancellation by 2018 when Take-Two let the trademark lapse. The official website went down in 2021, leaving Agent one of Rockstar's enduring mysteries.
