IG4 and BTG fund wins auction for schools PPP in Minas Gerais

An investment fund structured by IG4 Capital with BTG Pactual won the auction for the Educa Minas project, a public-private partnership for school infrastructure in the state. The winning bid offered R$ 22.3 million monthly, a 14.1% discount on the reference value. The deal covers 95 schools across 34 municipalities, benefiting 70,000 students.

The IG4 BTG Pactual Health Infra fund, managed by IG4 with capital from BTG Pactual and IG4 itself, secured the global lot in the auction held on March 30. Operations will be handled by Opy, IG4 Capital's infrastructure manager, which already operates in health via Opy Health. This win marks the firm's entry into education, creating a dedicated structure to capture operational synergies.

The Educa Minas project involves non-pedagogical services such as construction, modernization, maintenance, and operation of the 95 state public schools. Pedagogical management stays with the Minas Gerais Education Secretariat. Over the 25-year contract, more than R$ 5.1 billion will be invested.

"The victory in Educa Minas represents a strategic step in consolidating the Opy Group as an integrated social infrastructure platform. Entry into education expands our reach and reinforces our capacity to generate positive impact sustainably," IG4 Capital stated in a note.
