Industry minister meets ABB Egypt to review expansion plans

Egypt's Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem met with Ahmed Hammad, Chairperson of ABB Egypt, to discuss the company's expansion plans and its support for national development projects.

The meeting took place on 8 July 2026 and was also attended by Hussein El Ghazawy, Ahmed Osama and Abdallah Qassem. ABB presented its production sites in 10th of Ramadan City, Nasr City and the Suez Free Zones, noting local content of up to 78 percent in some products and exports to more than 60 countries in the first half of 2026.

Hashem described the electrical and engineering industries as one of seven priority sectors in Egypt’s Industrial Strategy 2030. He pledged continued ministry support for the company and efforts to raise local content.

Hammad said Egypt remains one of ABB’s most strategic markets and that the firm has maintained a presence in the country for more than a century. The company also expressed interest in the government’s Shams El-Sinaa initiative by installing rooftop solar systems at its factories.
