Andoni Iraola has promised Liverpool fans a team they can be proud of after being unveiled as the club's new head coach. The 44-year-old Spaniard signed a two-year deal last month to replace Arne Slot.
Iraola spoke at his first press conference at Anfield. He stressed the need to reconnect with supporters after last season's frustrations.
"I think football and especially Liverpool is about connecting – connecting with the people, connecting with our supporters," Iraola said. He wants a side that works hard and plays with intensity, aggression and verticality.
Iraola arrives after successful spells at Bournemouth and other clubs. He said he is ready for the scrutiny that comes with managing a big club and plans to live normally in the city.
Liverpool have already signed Victor Munoz and Jeremy Jacquet. Iraola confirmed more signings are needed ahead of pre-season. Harvey Elliott will have a chance to impress after his loan at Aston Villa.
