Mexican cyclist Isaac del Toro finished third in the general classification of the Tour de France 2026, becoming the first Mexican to reach the podium in the event. President Claudia Sheinbaum congratulated him on the achievement.
Isaac del Toro, from Ensenada, Baja California, and rider for UAE Team Emirates, ended his participation in the Tour de France 2026 with a third-place finish in the general classification. He also claimed the white jersey as the best young rider in the race.
The final stage took place on Sunday on the Champs-Élysées in Paris, where Tadej Pogacar secured his fifth overall victory. Del Toro held his position despite a mechanical issue and overtook Frenchman Paul Seixas in the young rider standings.
Claudia Sheinbaum posted on X: “Muchas felicidades al joven Isaac del Toro por su histórico tercer lugar en el Tour de France”. She added that Mexico feels proud of his effort and that the moment inspires the entire country.
Del Toro also won stage two of the competition and took the lead of the white jersey from Seixas during the final week.
