Kevin Owens has arrived in Minneapolis for WWE SummerSlam weekend, with backstage reports indicating he is very close to an on-screen return.
Kevin Owens is in Minneapolis, Minnesota, for WWE SummerSlam this weekend. He is scheduled for meet and greets and has been training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando earlier this week.
PWInsider Elite reported that Owens is very close to returning and is expected to be part of WWE SmackDown. Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Owens is expected to make his on-screen return soon.
Owens underwent successful surgery in July 2025 for a neck injury that sidelined him after he revealed the issue ahead of a planned WrestleMania 41 rematch against Randy Orton. He has since appeared as a pre-show host at WWE NXT's Great American Bash and as a coach on season three of WWE LFG: Legends & Future Greats.
Fightful reported that Owens had been absent from in-ring action for more than 16 months. Randy Orton is also expected to return soon, according to Meltzer.
