Kings of Leon opened the first State Fayre Festival with a headline set at Hylands Park in Chelmsford on June 26. The Tennessee band played a hits-packed performance during a record-breaking heatwave.
Caleb Followill told the crowd that it felt like being home as the smell of barbecue filled the air. The group opened with Find Me and went on to perform fan favourites including The Bucket, Fans, On Call, Use Somebody, Waste a Moment, Closer, Molly's Chambers, Black Thumbnail and Sex on Fire.
State Fayre combines rock, Americana and country acts with American-inspired food and fairground attractions. It bills itself as the UK's biggest music and barbecue festival and runs across the weekend.
The band will continue its UK and Ireland dates next week in Belfast, Limerick, Glasgow, Manchester and Leeds. Its most recent album, Can We Please Have Fun, came out in 2024.
