Lando Norris has credited winning the 2016 McLaren Autosport BRDC Award with transforming his racing career and forging a lasting bond with the McLaren team. The driver, who went on to become world champion, shared his reflections in a video posted on McLaren's YouTube channel.
Norris entered the award at age 16 and described it as one of the most prestigious in the UK. Winning granted him a day driving a Formula 1 car along with a fully paid simulator driver role at McLaren. This opportunity helped him build relationships inside the team while progressing through junior categories.
