On Saturday, May 2, Italian singer Laura Pausini shared the stage with Spanish star Ana Torroja at the Arena Ciudad de México for a moving rendition of Mecano's 'Hijo de la Luna.' The event marked the 14th stop on Pausini's Yo Canto World Tour and attracted 15,000 attendees, according to promoter Zignia Live. Pausini wore a black and silver tunic, contrasting Torroja's white outfit, creating a standout visual moment unlike her usual gypsy-themed wardrobe for the song on other tour dates. The show lasted more than three hours, featuring tracks from Pausini's Yo Canto 2 album alongside her hits like 'La soledad' and covers of Mexican songs such as Natalia Lafourcade’s 'Hasta la Raíz' and Joan Sebastian’s 'Eso y Más.' Pausini expressed deep emotion onstage, telling Torroja, “For many years, you’ve been a huge inspiration. In that small body, you inspire so much, and today you’ve made a big dream of mine come true, my little doll.” Torroja replied, “I had a lump in my throat the whole time. It’s an emotion that’s hard to control. Laura, you are a being of light.” Pausini also brought out fellow Italian Achille Lauro for the live debut of '16 de Marzo,' the Spanish version of his 2020 hit, released digitally on May 1. Lauro, in a black suit exposing his torso, received thunderous applause from the audience. The night closed with surprise encores including “Quiero Decirte Que Te Amo” and “El Mundo Que Soñé” alongside her pianist after lights came up. The tour continues in Mexico with shows scheduled for May 5 at Arena Guadalajara and May 7 at Arena Monterrey, before heading to the U.S. and Canada starting May 16.
