Mike McCarthy, in his first year as Steelers head coach, shared updates on his discussions with Aaron Rodgers from the NFL owners meetings in Arizona. Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show on March 30, McCarthy said, “I’ve talked to Aaron regularly and we’ll continue to do so, and we’re just working through it.” He added that the pair has had “very, very positive conversations on a weekly basis.” McCarthy expressed comfort with the ongoing process Rodgers is navigating before a full announcement comes. Rodgers last appeared on the show in mid-March, stating he had no deadline from the team or contract offer at that time. The new NFL league year is nearly three weeks old, yet no decision has been announced. Steelers general manager Omar Khan had indicated earlier that the situation would not drag on like the previous offseason. McCarthy noted healthy communication between Rodgers and new coaches on his staff, including offensive line coach James Campen, offensive coordinator Brian Angelichio, and senior assistant Frank Cignetti Jr., all familiar with Rodgers. The Steelers hired McCarthy to replace Mike Tomlin, a move seen as increasing the chances of Rodgers' return. A decision is expected before the 2026 NFL Draft in late April.
