Daniil Medvedev and Felix Auger-Aliassime have pulled out of the Citi DC Open in Washington. The withdrawals follow recent splits with their longtime coaches after Wimbledon.
Confirmation of the absences came from the official tournament website. Both players are missing from the main draw and will not start their North American hard-court season until the event in Canada at the earliest.
Auger-Aliassime ended a nearly decade-long partnership with Frederic Fontang. The Canadian posted on Instagram that the split had been planned and was not a sudden decision after a loss.
Medvedev parted ways with Thomas Johansson after the pair secured three titles together this season. The Russian reached the Indian Wells final and Rome semifinals under the coach but had limited Grand Slam results.
The Washington field remains strong despite the absences. Alex de Minaur leads the seeds as defending champion, joined by Taylor Fritz and others including wildcards Ben Shelton and Stefanos Tsitsipas.
