Chile's Meteorological Directorate issued an alarm for intense rainfall in La Araucanía and Los Ríos on Tuesday, raising the risk of flooding and landslides.
The frontal system is affecting southern regions with rainfall concentrated between Tuesday dawn and Wednesday. The alarm, the DMC's highest category, adds to existing alerts from Maule to Los Lagos.
SENAPRED reported waterlogging in Valdivia and Corral, where the San Juan River overflowed and flooded homes. Landslides were recorded on routes such as T-450 and CH-203, along with fallen trees in several communes.
Classes were suspended in twelve municipal schools in Pucón. Regional SENAPRED director Daniel Epprecht confirmed minor incidents being handled by teams on the ground. Authorities maintain permanent monitoring until Thursday.
