A New Jersey woman allegedly drove under the influence and crashed her Jeep into a pool at Smuggler's Notch Resort in Cambridge, Vermont, on Monday afternoon.
The incident took place around 3:30 p.m. at the resort, where the vehicle smashed through a fence and landed in the water amid a crowd of swimmers, including children. Two people suffered minor injuries, one of them identified as 9-year-old Joseph Sage.
"I just heard a bang and a car went there," Sage told WPTZ. "It hit my head and pulled me under."
Vermont State Police said the woman failed sobriety tests at the scene and was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, reckless or gross negligence, and two counts of reckless endangerment. She pleaded not guilty during a court hearing on Wednesday. A judge barred her from driving and drinking alcohol.
