Nick Kyrgios confirms Wimbledon plans after knee setback

Nick Kyrgios has assured fans he will compete at Wimbledon despite withdrawing from the Terra Wortmann Open with a knee injury. The Australian posted an update on social media and named Mallorca as his next stop. Doubles partner Alexander Bublik will join him at the Grand Slam.

Kyrgios suffered the injury during practice with doubles partner Mattia Bellucci ahead of a scheduled singles match against Ben Shelton. He withdrew from the event in Halle and shared details on Instagram.

"Hey guys, I had a minor setback yesterday in practice with my doubles partner and tweaked my knee slightly," he wrote. "Nothing to be concerned about! I appreciate all the kind messages as I am back on tour. Looking forward to Mallorca and Wimbledon."

Kyrgios and Bublik received a men's doubles wildcard for Wimbledon. The pair reached the quarterfinals at the Stuttgart Open last week before withdrawing. Kyrgios holds no singles wildcard and sits at world No. 899.

Former player Greg Rusedski questioned whether Kyrgios merits a singles main-draw entry, citing limited match play this season. Kyrgios is set to begin preparations at the Mallorca ATP 250 event on June 21.
