Nottingham Forest complete signing of Xaver Schlager

Nottingham Forest have signed midfielder Xaver Schlager on a two-year deal as their first acquisition under new head coach Oliver Glasner.

The 28-year-old Austrian joins as a free agent after four seasons with RB Leipzig. He previously played for Liefering, Red Bull Salzburg and Wolfsburg.

Schlager worked with Glasner at Wolfsburg and will now reunite with his compatriot at the City Ground. He featured in all four of Austria's matches at the World Cup.

Speaking on the move, Schlager said it was a huge honour to join a club with such history and that he wanted to help achieve European qualification. He added that he was happy to work again with Glasner and excited by the club's ambitions.
