The National Youth Service (NYS) has officially launched a nationwide recruitment exercise across all sub-counties in Kenya. The drive began on Monday, March 16, 2026, and will continue until Saturday, March 21, 2026. In a statement issued on March 16, NYS noted, “The National Youth Service (NYS), nationwide recruitment exercise, has officially kicked off today across all sub-counties, as earlier advertised. The exercise will run from 16th to 21st March 2026.” It added, “Eligible young Kenyans are encouraged to turn up in large numbers at their respective sub-county recruitment centres and take advantage of this opportunity to serve the nation while gaining valuable skills, discipline, and training.” NYS is a state corporation that trains and empowers youth through paramilitary, national service, and vocational training programmes. It equips recruits with technical and vocational skills in fields such as construction, agriculture, mechanical works, and community development. The agency also deploys trained youth for national development projects, disaster response, environmental conservation, and public infrastructure works. Earlier, on March 3, 2026, NYS announced 250 cadet officer positions and 500 private posts, totalling over 700 vacancies. Private roles include drivers, plant operators, electricians, carpenters, plumbers, band members, agricultural workers, secretaries, vehicle mechanics, welders, and general duty personnel. Prior applications were accepted via the Public Service Commission form until March 18, 2026.
