Tara Bowen, a 36-year-old mother from Oregon, was shot and killed by her husband Markus Bowen at their home in Clackamas County on June 26.
The shooting occurred shortly before midnight on Friday, June 26, in the 22000 block of South Kamrath Road in unincorporated Clackamas County. Markus Bowen, 35, called 911 to report the incident, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office. Their two children, ages 6 and 2, were at the home during the event.
Bowen was arrested and booked into the Clackamas County Jail on a charge of first-degree manslaughter. He remained in custody with bail set at $500,000 as of July 2.
The family had planned a trip to Disneyland in the coming weeks. Tara Bowen's mother, Lori DeVeny, said her daughter was very excited and had collected gift cards for the visit. DeVeny noted that the couple argued like others but nothing indicated such an outcome.
Tara Bowen worked to provide for her children, who will now be cared for full-time by their grandmother, according to a GoFundMe page started by her sister.
