Paris bids to host women's ice hockey for 2030 Olympics

The operator of Accor Arena and Adidas Arena in Paris has submitted a spontaneous bid to host the women's ice hockey tournament at the 2030 Winter Olympics.

The bid marks a shift in strategy by the Games organising committee. The original plan concentrated all ice events in Nice but faced opposition from new mayor Éric Ciotti who rejected a temporary rink at Allianz Riviera.

Paris Entertainment Company proposes 35 matches at Accor Arena and 25 at Adidas Arena following the Milan-Cortina 2026 model. Its chief executive Marie Barsacq cited a cost of a little over 4 million euros per venue.

The organising committee must finalise venue plans by the end of June. The Paris option broadens choices beyond the Alps and draws on experience from the 2024 Games.
