The pontiff concluded his visit to Barcelona with a massive Mass at Sagrada Família, where he inaugurated and blessed the Tower of Jesus on the centenary of Antoni Gaudí's death.
Pope Leo XIV celebrated Mass inside the basilica and blessed the 172.5-meter Tower of Jesus from outside. The event coincided with sunset and the first lighting of the white cross atop the tower. The pontiff described the temple as a “catechesis made of stones, colors and light” and called it a “sign of unity and concord for all Spain”. He spoke in Catalan and Spanish during the address. The kings of Spain, President Pedro Sánchez with 14 ministers and more than 8,000 people attended. Thousands followed the event from the street with giant screens and a drone show that formed Gaudí's face.
