Prabowo calls acid attack on KontraS activist terrorism

President Prabowo Subianto has labeled the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus as barbaric terrorism that must be thoroughly investigated to its masterminds. He stressed law enforcement without favoritism, even if state apparatus are involved.

President Prabowo Subianto stated that the acid splashing against KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus constitutes terrorism. “This is terrorism. This is a barbaric act. We must chase it. We must investigate!” he said, quoted from a Badan Komunikasi RI release on March 19, 2026. He demanded probes into intellectual actors, including “who ordered it, who paid,” beyond field perpetrators. Prabowo guaranteed no impunity for perpetrators, even from apparatus. “Of course (if from apparatus). There won’t be! I guarantee!” he said. He seeks a civilized Indonesia without such violence. Previously, TNI Danpuspom Maj. Gen. Yusri Nuryanto revealed on March 18, 2026, that four TNI soldiers from Denma BAIS TNI are suspected. They have been secured, with motives under investigation. Prabowo is open to a neutral independent team and leaves the process to law enforcers like Polri and others.
