Rolex introduces updated Yacht-Master II regatta chronographs

Rolex has unveiled new versions of its Yacht-Master II, a 44mm regatta countdown chronograph, available in Oystersteel and 18K yellow gold. The models feature a simplified pusher-operated countdown timer replacing the previous bezel system. Prices start at US$20,300 for the steel reference 126680.

Rolex launched the updated Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master II on April 13, retaining the 44mm Oyster case with 13.9mm thickness and 100 meters of water resistance. The new references are 126680 in Oystersteel and 126688 in 18K yellow gold. A bidirectional bezel with a blue Cerachrom insert and 60-minute scale now supports precise timing, while the countdown function operates via pushers. The lower pusher advances the minute hand in one-minute increments, storing the sequence in mechanical memory for restarts without resetting. This allows synchronization during repeated race starts, according to Rolex specifications. The matte white lacquer dial reduces reflections, with applied hour markers, luminescent hands, and a redesigned countdown display on the flange for better legibility. The central chronograph seconds and countdown minute hands rotate counterclockwise to mimic countdown progression. Powering the watch is the new caliber 4162, an automatic chronograph with column wheel, vertical clutch, and Rolex's Chronergy escapement. It offers a 72-hour power reserve and carries Superlative Chronometer certification. The timepiece fits an Oyster bracelet with Oysterlock clasp and Easylink extension. Retail prices are €19,850 (US$20,300, CHF 18,100) for the steel model and €56,700 (US$57,800, CHF 51,500) for the gold version. The Yacht-Master II, first introduced in 2007, joins Rolex's Professional range in standard production.
