Senator Romário (PL-RJ) stated on Tuesday (30) that he remained in office without leave to vote in favor of ending the 6x1 work scale if the PEC is scheduled. He also announced he would forgo his R$ 46,000 salary during the World Cup in the United States.
Romário explained in a Senate session via videoconference that he decided not to request leave to ensure his vote on PEC 221/2019. The voting day has not yet been scheduled, according to the parliamentarian.
He sent an official letter to the Senate Presidency requesting suspension of his salary payment. The senator stated that any credited amount will be returned to public coffers.
Senate sessions are semipresential, allowing votes through the Infoleg app. Romário also emphasized his commitment to workers, regardless of his location.
